Trip to the West

A few weeks ago, we had a holiday here, which meant that I didn’t have to teach on Friday. So some friends and decided to take to the road and do some traveling. Here is a short account of the highlights of the trip.

Wednesday Morning
6am: My friend loses his phone in a taxi.6:05am-6:30am: I argue with the next taxi drive in Chinese about the price to go to the airport. He wanted seriously rip us off.
7:00am: We arrive at the airport, and then make it through security just in the nick of time.

Later that morning: We arrive in our destination, and try and find out hostel for 3 hours. After never finding that hostel we find another one, that turned out to be a sweet deal.
We spent the rest of that day Thursday, and Friday checking out the city and visiting college campuses. Seeing if we would want to teach there.

On Saturday we decided to jump on a bus, and go out and see the countryside. Now I’m going to let you know that, while I enjoy many things; the natural beauty of Nature has never been high on that list. So after about 3 hours on a bus, we arrived at our destination. There was with touristy thing that we could go into but it was 50¥ (~8$) each, so we decided to walk down this road (Picture 2). The picture on the right shows that we were pleasantly not disappointed! After walking through these fields for about 2-3 hours, we decided to start the 3 hour trip back.

I will say that probably the most exciting thing about this trip for me was that mostly nobody we ran across spoke English! It really gave me a chance to see how well I’ve come along learning the language.
